Community is at the core of our business. We’re always looking for ways to give back to the cities that we call home. Starting this month, we’re selling our white Refectory Harmony glasses at Northern Monk Refectory LDS and Northern Monk Refectory MCR for just £5, with all proceeds going to a local community charity.

At our LDS and MCR Refectories, we believe that serving beer in unique, personalised glassware adds to the experience of drinking in our tap rooms. We’ve received lots of feedback from visitors to the bars telling us the same thing, so we’re channelling this enthusiasm for the product into a good cause.

In Leeds, we’re continuing our relationship with Holbeck Elderly Aid. We partnered with them at the end of last year to create our Humans of Holbeck charity calendar, and we’re proud to be supporting them once again. Holbeck Elderly Aid is a community-led, locally-based organisation that’s been working within the Holbeck community for over 26 years. The charity aims to improve people’s quality of life, alleviate social isolation, and improve physical and mental health.
Holbeck sits within the 0.2% most deprived areas of England. HEA takes a whole community approach and provides a safe, comfortable space for all residents of the local area. They offer a programme of activities and health and wellbeing support that has formed the bedrock of daily life for many of the people they support.

In Manchester, we’re working with the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Homelessness Fund to help them on their mission to end rough sleeping. They believe that nobody should be forced to spend a night on the streets. Neither do we. This fund was set up by the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, on the first day he took office. His aim is to end rough sleeping in Greater Manchester by 2020.

  • Every £3 raised will pay for a hot evening meal in a shelter for someone who would otherwise have slept on the streets.
  • Every £10 raised will pay for bedding and toiletries for a homeless person.
  • Every £30 raised will pay for a hot evening meal, a safe bed for the night, and someone to talk to who’ll help them get off, and stay off, the streets.

Join us on our mission to support our communities by taking one of our Refectory glasses with you when you leave. Enjoy a beer in your new glass in the comfort of your own home, knowing that you’ve made a positive impact in the community by doing so. Drink beer for social change.
