What are stouts and porters?
These are dark ales that can either be thick and creamy, or surprisingly light, depending on style. The deep black colour of stouts come from roasting some of the barley that’s used in brewing. This roasting can add light caramel notes, or the rich depth of chocolate, tobacco and smoke.
What strength are stouts?
Our stouts often have a wide range of ABVs. Our Northern Rising Stout is a sessionable 4.4% ABV, but we also brew imperial stouts that can be over 10% ABV.
